 Long Term Monitoring Program

Long Term Monitoring Program

Progress:

  • Support existing programs (e.g. enhanced ambient water quality monitoring/Centennial grant; gaging)
  • Enhance accuracy of water use information
  • Develop comprehensive long-term strategy
  • A Long Term Monitoring Plan was approved in 2007.
  • Integrate comprehensive long-term strategy with other related programs, Salmon Recovery, Shellfish Districts, etc.
  • Department of Ecology and USGS are currently reviewing gage data to understand what locations are easily modeled and correlated well with other locations.  Gages will be eliminated due to a budget considerations beginning in summer 2009.
  • An update to the Long Term Monitoring Plan will expand the program to include management of water use information, land use changes, and habitat data.
  • The update will include non-technical performance goals, i.e., impervious surface cover, water right changes, shellfish closer days, etc.
