  • Whatcom County updated its Critical Areas Ordinance and Shoreline Management Program to be integrated and consistent.  Whatcom County adopted a county-wide Restoration Plan as part of the Shoreline adoption process.  This restoration program was based on the State's Watershed Characterization Model and integrated Salmon Recovery Strategy and WRIA 1 Water storage Inventory.
  • Whatcom County is working toward a comprehensive low impact development program.  Whatcom County Planning and Development Services is currently working toward a watershed based land use management program for Birch Bay.
  • Whatcom County Conservation on Agricultural Lands (CPAL)- Instituted with the 2005 Critical Areas Update, this program provides flexibility to low impact agricultural operations to bring them into compliance with the Critical Areas Ordinance.  Click here for the 2008 Report
