  • The Lower Nooksack Strategy work plan and funding strategy was approved by consensus of WRIA 1 Joint Board members in attendance at the October 28, 2010 meeting.  This approval included the 2011 WRIA 1 Joint Board Budget, which allocates WRIA 1 Joint Board funds to implement tasks outlined in the Lower Nooksack Strategy.  The Lower Nooksack Strategy includes a work plan that advances a negotiated settlement of water rights and maximizes economic and environmental benefits of out-of-stream water use.
  • A proposal to establish the consolidated WRIA 1 Joint Board and WRIA 1 Salmon Recovery Board as the Whatcom County Local Integrating Organization was approved by consensus of the WRIA 1 Joint Board and by consensus of the caucuses of the WRIA 1 Salmon Recovery Board.  Local Integrating Organizations is a concept developed by the Puget Sound Partnership that establishes local organizations to support and coordinate local implementation of the Puget Sound Action Agenda.  The next step in becoming the Local Integrating Organization is for the Puget Sound Partnership Leadership Council to consider the proposal.
